BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The LSU Tigers held their second scrimmage and the defense stepped up big.
Head coach Les Miles said there were about 110 plays run this time around.
He said the defense returned the offense's volley after last weekend's scrimmage.
He was impressed with Craig Loston, Anthony Johnson and Key-Key Mingo.
The scrimmage was closed to the media.
And although the defense had the better day, it didn't stop the guys on offense from shining.
Sophomore wide receiver James Wright stood out, catching three touchdown passes.
Miles also praised the play of all three of his quarterbacks. Zac Mettenberger led the way with two TD passes.
With spring being halfway through, Miles added he likes the way the competition between the quarterbacks is developing.
