BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Two men who escaped custody in Louisiana and remained on the run for 10 days were back in the state Tuesday.
Darian "Drake" Pierce and Ricky Wedgeworth returned to the Louisiana State Police headquarters for the first time since running away from the facility.
They said nothing but looked angry as they walked into building. They were working at the LSP headquarters when they ran away and stole a state government van on March 4th.
The pair prompted a nationwide manhunt through four states, allegedly carjacking and killing David Cupps in Vicksburg, MS while on the run. His body was later found at an Alabama hotel. They were finally apprehended in Memphis, TN after crashing another stolen vehicle.
"These two were going to get out at some point. Now they'll never get out," said Colonel Mike Edmonson with Louisiana State Police.
The pair will face escape charges in East Baton Rouge Parish. After, they'll move to either Mississippi or Alabama to face charges in David Cupps' murder.
