AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn University is digging monitoring wells Tuesday as part of its efforts track the spread of herbicide that was used to poison oak trees at Toomer's Corner.
Work crews have blocked off several parking spaces at the intersection of North College Street and Magnolia Avenue in order to complete the work efficiently.
In addition, pedestrians will not be able to use some crosswalks near the area.
Drivers and walkers are encouraged to find alternate routes to their desired destinations.
On February 17, 62-year-old Henry Updyke, of Dadeville, AL, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief for allegedly poisoning the trees with the herbicide Spike 80DF.
Court documents show a preliminary hear scheduled for March 2 has been cancelled. Since his arrest and first appearance in court, 3 attorneys have filed motions to be removed from the case in his behalf.
Updyke is now represented by an attorney in Birmingham.
Crews from Auburn University removed soil and reapplied a fresh layer last week.
