AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Now that a moratorium has been placed on rolling the trees at Toomer's Corner, many of you will miss the tradition of rolling the trees.
Volunteers, who also love the tradition, have created a website where you can roll Toomer's Oaks virtually.
In addition, users can donate money to help in saving the trees at Toomer.
Recently, the trees have been the target of a scheme to get rid of them.
A caller called the Paul Finebaum show on January 27 saying that he had applied the herbicide Spike 80DF to the root system of the trees.
Test at the trees confirmed last week that the poison was applied to the trees.
Henry Updyke, of Dadeville, AL, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.
He is expected to appear in court on March 2 to face that charge. Since his arrest and first appearance in court, 3 attorneys have filed motions to be removed from the case in his behalf.
Updyke is now represented by an attorney in Birmingham. Copyright 2011 WTVM. All rights reserved.
