BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - If you need help paying for college, you may need a crash course in finding scholarships.
Wanda McElwain is the guidance counselor at U-High. She knows about wanting something badly.
"Nothing is impossible if you want it badly enough," says McElwain.
When students she counsels are juniors, she hands them a list of online free scholarship searches. The list has dozens of websites that help students to find ways to help pay for college. Three of the most popular include CollegeBoard Scholarship Search, Fastweb and Scholarship Experts.
It usually takes a certain grade point average and scores on standardized tests. Students can be stretched too thin though to fully research and try to win the scholarships, so some of the money goes unclaimed.
