BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities report the arrest of a second suspect in connection with a double murder in which the bodies of the victims were found in the trunk of a car.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office identified the second suspect as Patrick Ramirez, 30, of Baton Rouge.
U.S. marshals found him in Lake Charles. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correction Facility overnight and driven to Baton Rouge.
He and Kendrick Johnson, 29, each face two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing Jarrett Stanley, 28, and his girlfriend, Latonya Wright, 26. They were shot to death.
Investigators questioned him about the shooting at the new East Baton Rouge Violent Crime Unit, which is located at the Louisiana State Police headquarters.
The two victims were actually sought by police on drug charges following another shooting in which one of them was hospitalized and then the pair disappeared.
Stanley and Wright were found shot to death in the trunk of a Saturn Ion on Monday.
The car was discovered at the corner of Dutton Avenue and Airline Hwy Service Road.
Detectives reported Johnson was given more charges after his home was searched Tuesday. In addition to murder, he is looking at possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.
