The holiday season is upon us, and perhaps now more than ever we are feeling the pinch of the economic downturn and the rise of unemployment. But it is important to remember that there are those who feel the stress and these economic burdens year round.

Let's help keep the magic of the season alive for children throughout our community whose families are reeling from these harsh times. WAFB has partnered with the Toys for Tots program and with the Salvation Army's Power of Angels.

The local Marines and the Salvation Army play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable resources - our children. Baton Rouge Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart are hosting donation events now through December 18th.

You can drop your unwrapped toys to any of these events, donate online, or bring your donations here to the WAFB studios. The Salvation Army has supplied 30 Capital One branches in and around Baton Rouge with Angel Trees. Each tree has a collection of Angels, with a child's name, age, and  Christmas wish list.

The gifts you provide can be toys, clothes or both and the amount is up to you. What may seem like the smallest gesture can make the biggest impact during this holiday season. Thank you in advance for your help and support and Happy Holidays!
