BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left two people dead Tuesday morning in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the bodies of two men were found behind an apartment complex on Delphine Street at Louisiana Avenue.
The victims had been shot several times.
Officers said they received several anonymous calls around 3 a.m. from people claiming they heard gunshots in the area, but investigators did not find anything suspicious.
However, they started getting calls around 6:30 a.m. about two bodies lying next to an apartment building.
Detectives believe the shooter moved the bodies, which is why the victims were not found the first time officers searched the area.
One body was discovered between cars in the parking lot, while the other was located on the side of the building.
Police said one of the men was found wearing just underwear, an undershirt and sneakers.
Neighbors who live in the area said his clothes were stolen, but authorities are unsure about that.
"People are not safe in their own homes," said Chaka Neely, a neighbor. "You see somebody one minute and they're gone the next. The police need to get on their jobs and do something about it."
The shooting is still being investigated.
