INGREDIENTS
-serves 4-
4 cups Milk
6 ea Eggs
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 Onion, Julienned
Salt/Pepper
4 Tbl Butter
8 slices French Bread, cut diagonally and 1 inch thick
8 oz Brie, sliced
Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
PROCEDURE
- Preheat Oven to 400 degrees
- Mix all ingredients together EXCEPT Butter and French Bread.
- Melt 1/2 Butter in a large pan or griddle. Meanwhile, soak Bread in Custard until well absorbed.
- Sear Bread for about a minute on each side or until golden. Transfer to a sheet pan and put in heated oven. Bake for ~5 minutes, or until slightly puffed.
- In a saute pan, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Add Onions. Cook until caramelized. Season to taste.
- To serve, lay one slice of toast on a plate and top with Brie then Onions. Set second piece on top. Dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve with bacon or enjoy by itself.
