Suspects in broadcaster's murder returned to LA

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Two men suspected in the murder of a Tangipahoa broadcaster have been returned to Louisiana to face murder charges.

Eric Maurer, 31, and his father, Rickey Maurer, 51, are accused of killing Rube Rogers late Friday night before fleeing.  The two were arrested in Humphreys County, Tennessee just after 11 p.m. Saturday night.

According to reports, Eric Maurer confessed to killing Rogers and robbing him for drug money.

The men were returned to Hammond on Friday around noon after they waived extradition in Tennessee.

Eric Maurer has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated burglary.  Rickey Maurer has been charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Bond is expected to be set for both men on Monday.
