Have hurricanes/cyclones/whatever ever hit Australia or South America?

ANSWER:

Australia and the islands of the SW Pacific deal with hurricanes all the time. While the west coast of South America has never had a hurricane 'hit,' there have been two hurricanes in the South Atlantic that have hit the east coast of South America. Both of these have been in this decade; prior to 2004 (I believe), there is no record of a South Atlantic hurricane.
