BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Senate Finance Committee discussed House Bill 1 Tuesday morning.
It is the appropriations bill that keeps the Louisiana government operating.
The Senate is considering a set of amendments that basically undo what the House sent over a few days ago.
Part of the amendments sets up a $200 million fund availability for the Department of Public Safety to deal with the oil spill claims. The dollars will be repaid via a federal emergency fund that eventually will be repaid by BP.
The finance committee moved all four major budget bills.
The full Senate and House must concur with the amendments or the budget will go to a conference committee for debate.
