GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - President Barack Obama made his first visit to Mississippi Monday since the oil leak in the Gulf it is impacting people there.
Obama is expected to spend part of the day assessing the ongoing efforts along the Mississippi coast to counter the oil, before heading to Theodore, Alabama to see the impact of the oil that has washed up in that area.
The White House said the president will not publicly make any statements until he is in Alabama.
This is Obama's fourth visit to the Gulf Coast since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20.
This particular presidential visit will consist of a two-day tour. Obama will wrap up his visit in Pensacola, Florida. He is not making any stops in Louisiana this time.
