ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA (WAFB) - A district attorney said a judge ruled the 16-year-old accused in the brutal stabbing death of an 8-year-old boy in a West Feliciana Parish subdivision can be tried as an adult.

Trevor Reese is nearly 17 years old.

According to District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla, the judge said because of his age and the nature of the crime, he is eligible for adult treatment.

He added the judge ordered Reese held without bond until June 16, which is the date scheduled for another bond hearing.

A grand jury hearing is scheduled for the next day to determine what the teen will be charged with, but D'Aquilla said he expects Reese to face one count of first-degree murder.

Jackson Attuso was found stabbed in The Bluffs subdivision Thursday.

He died from the attack.

West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel said Reese walked up to a carpenter in the subdivision and told him to call 911 because he had stabbed a child.
