BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge teenager faces six counts of murder in a string of shootings, including the killing of a rap artist.
A grand jury charged 17-year-old Michael Louding on Thursday, but authorities did not identify him publicly until arrests were made on Friday. Five other Baton Rouge men were indicted on murder charges in some of the killings.
Authorities declined comment until a news conference Monday. Louding is charged with five counts of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted fire-degree murder. Because of his age, he is not eligible for the death penalty.
Conviction on any of the murder charges carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
