COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A Talisheek man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a traffic accident that permanently injured a 75-year-old woman while he drove under the influence of prescription drugs.
A judge in St. Tammany Parish issued the sentence against 48-year-old Kenneth Allain who pleaded guilty to vehicular negligent injuring. The accident took place on Louisiana Highway 41 in the northeastern part of the parish on Feb. 8.
The Times-Picayune reported that crash left the woman in an assisted-living facility. Allain received five years for the crash and another five years for being a repeat offender. He has previous drug convictions.
