LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fire officials say 13 people have been injured in an apartment fire near downtown Los Angeles, including a woman who jumped from a window and 2-year-old girl who suffered third-degree burns.
City fire Capt. Steve Ruda says crews plucked residents from the 42-unit building after fire broke out about 9 a.m. Saturday in a corner apartment. Ruda says the injuries include broken bones, scratches and smoke inhalation.
He says two people are in critical condition, including the woman who broke a leg while jumping from the building and the 2-year-old who is being treated at a burn center.
The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes.
