LAKE CHARLES, LA (WAFB) - Folks in Cameron Parish are hoping the oil spill will not disrupt their lives too much.
Right now, businesses that support offshore oil companies, their crew boats and supply boats are preparing for a surge in activity, that is if the oil spill blocks offshore boats from coming in around Port Fourchon on the ship channel in Cameron. Businesses like Martin Midstream are getting extra fuel and equipment in place. Manager Dwight Savoie said he is coordinating with businesses in that neck of the woods assuring them they will have help.
Savoie expects the biggest challenge to be adequate labor, because he said the labor force is not what it was before the hurricanes. He expects to need temporary workers who are forklift and crane certified.
Martin Midstream hires workers through contractor, Allstar. They can be reached at 337-775-3810.
