BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - According to one woman, it took her two weeks to plan the most important party of her life, second to the Super Bowl.
Baton Rouge couple Lakeisha and Derrick York got married Sunday, just in time to start cheering on the Saints to their Super Bowl win.
After the Saints secured their spot to play in the Super Bowl, Derrick came up with the idea to scrap their end of the month wedding in favor of something different, like a Super Bowl wedding.
"I threw it in the air," he said. "She accepted it. We went with it."
Their wedding invitations were printed to look like game tickets and this one-of-a-kind wedding called for each guest to be dressed appropriately, meaning black and gold attire to match the team's colors.
So, once the important "I dos" were exchanged, the second party got started.
"Super Bowl, anniversary, what else - Valentine's Day, so all our holidays fall into one, so I won't forget!" Derrick added.
