Deputies arrest burglary suspect

LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) - A man was arrested on burglary charges Wednesday morning after allegedly breaking into a home in Livingston.

Daniel Sterritt, 41, of Livingston is accused of taking an electric saw, a weed eater and several fishing poles from the home.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, a 911 call was made at 10:21 a.m. by a witness who saw a man trying to break into a home on Lod Stafford Road. The witness gave investigators a description of the suspect and the vehicle he drove away in.

Seven minutes after the call, a deputy spotted a vehicle fitting the description of the one given by the witness and pulled it over. Other units arrived moments later. Reportedly, the driver initially refused to get out of the vehicle, Sterritt was taken into custody.

The homeowner who was robbed identified the items found in the vehicle. Deputies gave them back to him and took Skerritt to jail.

He was charged with one count of simple burglary, one count of simple criminal damage to property and one count of resisting an officer. His bond was set at $16,000.

Deputies reported as of Thursday morning, he was still in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
