BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A fire that investigators suspect was a case of arson gutted a home in Baton Rouge and burned a car under the carport Monday evening.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the blaze sparked at a house in the 5900 block of St. Katherine Avenue around 6:30 p.m.
Investigators reported the fire started in the front of the home and quickly spread throughout, leaving the entire structure gutted before the flames could be brought under control.
A 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo, which was parked under the carport, was also damaged in the fire.
Officials had no details about who may have intentionally started the fire. They are urging possible witnesses to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867 with information that may help them solve this arson.
