PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with a robbery at a convenience store Monday evening in Ponchatoula.

Brian Guthrie is accused of walking into Popingo's Convenience Store #13 on Pine Street around 5 p.m., waiting for the cash register to be opened, forcing the clerk out of the way and grabbing all of the $20 bills from the register.

Once the clerk in the store identified Guthrie as the robbery suspect, authorities went to his home, where they found him and arrested him. They also recovered the stolen money.

Guthrie was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish jail on one count of simple robbery. He also had other outstanding warrants with the sheriff's office.
