St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's investigate possible drowning

COVINGTON, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies have recovered a body from the Tchefuncte River.

The sheriff's office was called Friday morning after a worker at Marina del Ray spotted the man's body floating in the water near one of the facility's piers.

The sheriff's office says it is believed the man fell into the water sometime overnight.  An autopsy will be performed, but officials say initial indications are that foul play was not involved. The victim is described as a white male, in his late 50s. His identity has not been released, pending notification of his family by the parish coroner's office.
