June 19, 2009

Joint Press Release of:

Tangipahoa Parish President, Gordon Burgess

and the Tangipahoa Parish Water District

Citizens of Tangipahoa Parish,

Due to the current drought situation and the resulting excessive demand for water, the Tangipahoa Water District is currently experiencing critically low water pressure in areas south of I-12.

Consequently, Parish President, Gordon Burgess has issued an emergency executive order creating a mandatory ban on lawn and garden irrigation between the hours of noon and midnight for all Tangipahoa Water District customers south of I-12.  Please note that this does NOT include water customers of the City of Ponchatoula.  This ban is being enforced through Sheriff Daniel Edwards and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

These measures are to remain in effect until further notice.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Gordon A. Burgess, Tangipahoa Parish President

Daniel Edwards, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff
