When LSU was selected as college baseball's preseason number one team, one would think that would be hard to live up to. The five national championship flags are a constant reminder of the school's rich baseball tradition and all the pressure that comes with it.

Most people would shy away from the challenges of the lofty preseason ranking, not wanting the added attention. But LSU head coach Paul Mainieri embraced it, wanting to affirm the beliefs of those who thought the Tigers were the best in the country. A 2-0 start in the College World Series is certainly a great way to do that.

If past records of the previous five national championship teams in school history are any indication, then the Tigers are well on their way to a sixth national title. Coach Mainieri says that he has sensed a focus and demeanor within the team that is a coach's dream. The fact that LSU looks to be in the driver's seat for another national title is no dream, but is indeed a nice reality for LSU fans. Now, all we can do as fans is hope and dream that LSU will solidify the pre-season predictions by bringing home another national title.
