BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge teenager accused of shooting three people at the Rite Aid on Plank Road was back in court Monday morning.

Michael Nicholas is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Nicholas appeared before Judge Don Johnson in district court.

His lawyer is asking the judge to allow him to plead not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.

Judge Johnson set August 21st as the next court date.

He will decide at that time whether or not to accept the amended plea.

The 16-year-old allegedly was caught on camera when he robbed the drug store.

Three people were shot during the robbery.
