Our forecast is calling for some serious changes as a vigorous cold front pushes through the WAFB viewing area between midnight and 6AM on Tuesday. Showers and a few t-storms are just about a sure thing, but fortunately the storm totals will only run in the 0.5" to 1.0" range for most of us -- not enough to generate any serious flooding. And while you will hear some rumbles of thunder, we are not anticipating any severe storms. The rain exits the region fairly quickly on Tuesday morning and skies will begin clearing in the morning with fair skies on the way by the afternoon. Morning lows will be in the low 40°s for metro Baton Rouge, but the cooler-and-drier air mass from the north will mean that afternoon highs will struggle to reach the 50°s for many of us, even with the afternoon sunshine. Winter returns for the rest of the work week and into the weekend, as temperatures will remain below normal all week long. In fact, we could see a little winter precip -- snow and a snow/sleet mix -- over SW Mississippi and areas north of the I-10/12 corridor by Friday morning. -- Jay Grymes / WAFB Storm Team
