Louisiana Family Involved in Deadly Tennessee Crash

A large extended family from south Louisiana has been involved in a vehicle crash while on vacation in Tennessee. One of them is dead, while 12 others are hurt, including several of them with injuries considered serious.

The crash happened Monday morning along Interstate 75 in Riceville, Tennessee, which is about 60 miles southwest of Knoxville.

13 people were traveling inside a van, when police say the 51-year-old driver reached down to grab a cold drink, ran off the interstate, and hit a guard rail.

45-year-old Sheral Lapine died in the crash. She's from Independence.

Most of the victims who are hospitalized are from Livingston and Independence, including six children from two to nine years old.

We're told they'd just attended a bible school and then left for vacation.
