HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Two teens were arrested on attempted murder charges and a man remains in critical condition in ICU following a beating authorities believe happened because of a dispute over beer money.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, Ricky Mandella, 17, of Amite, and Roy O'Neill, 18, of Hammond, beat a 37-year-old man Sunday evening after he allegedly claimed the pair did not give him money to buy more beer.

Deputies said the three were drinking beer at a home on Pumpkin Center Road in Hammond and the suspects gave the victim money to go buy more.

They said Mandella and O'Neill got angry when the man denied they gave him the money.

Investigators reported the pair beat and kicked him inside the home and they think he was hit in the head with a baseball bat.

According to detectives, a bat was found at the scene.

The victim is hospitalized with "massive injuries to the head."

His name was not released by officials.

Deputies reported O'Neill lives on Pumpkin Center Road, but did not indicate if the beating happened at his home.

The teens were both charged with attempted second-degree murder.
