PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - A 26-year-old Ponchatoula man was arrested after he allegedly threw a bicycle through a flat screen television and attacked a sheriff's deputy when authorities showed up to investigate early Sunday morning.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, Carey Bass Jr. faces several charges related to the incident. It happened in the 18000 block of Sisters Road in Ponchatoula around 4:30 a.m.
Investigators said after Bass threw the bike through the victim's TV, he got into a physical confrontation with someone in the home. After Bass left the home, the sheriff's office was called.
A deputy responding to the scene stopped a man who was walking to question him about what was going on. Reports indicate the suspect swung at the deputy and ran away. There was no clear information that the deputy was actually hit. Other deputies showed up to find the suspect and they eventually put Bass into the back of a patrol car.
"Bass aggressively and violently resisted arrest," stated a news release by Sheriff Daniel Edwards.
He was charged with simple criminal damage to property, two counts of domestic battery, four counts of resisting an officer by flight, two counts of battery on a police officer and three counts of resisting an officer by force or violence.
