BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - All LSU departments detailed what budget cuts by the state of Louisiana would do to them and the Tiger Marching Band is one of the most visible.
If the budget cuts stick, the LSU Golden Band says there will be a visible negative impact within three years.
The LSU Music Department said its ability to recruit students and teach them properly would take a hit, adding the Swine Palace Theatre and concerts would all be cut back.
Gov. Bobby Jindal is calling for $39 million in cuts from the LSU System because of state budget problems.
The main campus will cut nearly $13 million, the LSU Ag Center must trim $6 million and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center needs to cut just over $1 million.
The cuts include 22 layoffs, 13 from the Baton Rouge campus. The cuts will save the LSU System over $10 million.
