BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The good people at St. Vincent de Paul in Baton Rouge have helped the poor and the homeless for 27 years. St. Vincent de Paul has been preparing for Thanksgiving for weeks.
Thursday, Thanksgiving dinner went off as planned. St. Vincent de Paul offered a Thanksgiving feast of Turkey, dressing and more to over 700 people.
"…in my 20 years at St. Vincent de Paul, we've never seen such a big crowd," said Michael Acaldo with St. Vincent de Paul. "We've served over meals to the needy and homeless here in our community."
"It's really great, a unique experience," said Mayor Kip Holden. "Also people appreciate the fact that we take time to understand their plight, to make things happen and show people that we care. Showing that you care is so special, you cannot put a price tag on it."
St. Vincent de Paul will serve holiday dinners through Sunday.
