DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - A Denham Springs man has been arrested after a stolen backhoe was found at his home.
Kurt L. Freeman, 44, was taken into custody Tuesday after sheriff's deputies found the backhoe, valued at more than $50,000, with altered serial numbers.
The correct numbers were located and matched with those of a backhoe reported stolen in early September from a construction site south of Bass Pro Blvd.
A citizen familiar with the theft reported seeing the backhoe being towed down Highway 1032, south of Denham Springs. That information led deputies to Freeman's home.
Freeman has been charged with illegal possession of stolen things and was released on a $7,500 bond.
