Forecasters issue dense fog advisory

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a dense fog advisory for parts of Louisiana and Mississippi for Monday morning which will remain in effect until 8 a.m.

According to forecasters, fog began developing late Sunday evening and dense is fog likely before daybreak. Visibilities will drop below a quarter of a mile at times, creating hazardous driving conditions. Fog will begin to improve after sunrise.

Louisiana Parishes

  • Ascension
  • East Baton Rouge
  • East Feliciana
  • Livingston
  • St. Helena
  • St. James
  • St. John the Baptist
  • St. Tammany
  • Tangipahoa

 

Mississippi Counties

  • Amite
  • Hancock
  • Pearl River
  • Pike
  • Walthall

 

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one-quarter mile. Drivers are urged to slow down, use their low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of them.

Drivers should also use extra caution in school zones.
