ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WAFB) - An Amite man apparently stabbed himself while trying to run away from sheriff's deputies on Interstate 12 through two parishes Thursday.
Authorities said Derrill Naquin had a knife sticking out his chase once the high speed chase had ended.
They said he told them he stabbed himself during the pursuit through Tangipahoa and St. Tammany parishes.
He was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
He was charged with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.
The chase ended when Naquin's car ran over spike strips.
