
Nicholas Schiro (Source: Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office)AMITE, LA (WAFB) - A man faces battery and assault charges after allegedly firing the bullet that hit a woman in the leg Monday.
According to reports, Nicholas Schiro, 50, of Amite got into an argument with someone at a home on Lowery Lane and started shooting.
Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies said a stray bullet hit an unidentified 25-year-old woman in her right calf.
Paramedics took her to the hospital.
Deputies said while searching Schiro's home they found a .22 caliber rifle loaded with ten live rounds in the clip.
Investigators found what they think were three bullet holes in the door and two spent .22 caliber shell casings were found just inside the door.
Schiro was taken into custody and charged with one count of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
