Sheriff Daniel Edwards said Edward Dillon, 40, of Kentwood was charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery and domestic abuse battery. He also had four warrants for failure to appear and an outstanding warrant for simple battery.
Deputies said the woman told them while she and her four-year-old child were running errands with Dillon, she saw a large wooden stick in the back seat of his car. She said when she asked him what the stick was for he told her it was for her and then threatened to beat her with it.
She then said Dillon pulled the vehicle over, grabbed her purse and started chasing her around a parking lot with the big stick. She claimed during the time this happened Dillon slapped her in the face. She said she then got back into the car with him and they drove to a neighbor's house.
The woman said once the car stopped, she jumped out. However, before leaving, she grabbed her child, the stick and her purse. She ran inside as Dillon allegedly threatened to kill her. She said he then ran away.
Deputies later found him on Stateline Road and arrested him. He was then booked into the parish jail. There was no word on a possible bond.
