Man accused of firing shotgun at car

PIERRE PART, LA (WAFB) - An Assumption Parish man was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot at a car with a shotgun early Friday morning in Pierre Part.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a man shooting at a passing car on Belle River Road.

Deputies say through an investigation they learned a 12-gauge shotgun blast hit the back of the car and the rear glass.

The driver was not harmed by the blast and identified described the man who shot at her while standing in the middle of the road.

She said the man shot her vehicle as she drove past him and she even swerved onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid hitting him.

Deputies say they identified Michael Field, 47, of Pierre Part as the shooter and arrested him. They also found the shotgun they believe was used in the shooting.

They say Field confessed to the shooting and was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

He was charged with attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving under suspension. His bond has not been set.
