I often see myself in my mother in many, many ways, a lot those ways I am very proud of. The wieght and potential health disorders that I could end up having is scary and often heart breaking as I watch my mother deal with those issues.

I have tried almost every diet fad available and spent TONS of money, only to realize the most effective way to lose wieght is to exercise and eat healthy. I am motivated because I want to promote a healthier lifestyle for our family, specifically by changing the way we eat in our home. Also, what girl wouldn't want to look good in a bathing suit this summer!!

I want to feel energetic and happy again. I have gained 50 lbs over the last few years and can't do as much as I would like with my family. My 11, 9 & 5 year old children would love if I could be more active. The thought of having hig blood pressure scares me as well. I want to be here to take care of my family.

My daughter is overweight, I want her 2 know that she doesn't have to be fat or picked on all her life for her weight problem like I was, so if she sees me doing something positive she would want to join and workout with me.

I am marching toward my 40th birthday at the end of this year on December 1st, 2012. I have 50 lbs. to lose to reach my goal weight on my 40th birthday. I am also insulin resistent. This, of course, is the gateway to diabetes. I would like to stop insulin resistance in its tracks. Additionally, I work in higher education and I would like to be a role model for other in higher education and college students that healthy and active lifestyle choices (diet and exercise) are the right things to do. Finally, I have been a member of the 200+ club 15 years (since attending graduate school). I would like my membership in this club revoked, never to be admitted to this club again.

In a slightly unexpected way, skipping the scale has made me more accountable rather than less so. I find myself paying more attention to what I eat and the decisions I make from meal to meal because I'm not using the scale as a gauge to tell me how I'm doing.More >>
