Kirk Michelet joined the WAFB production team in 1998 as a newscast Chyron operator.
He has 32-years of experience in broadcast television and his skill set changes as quickly as the TV business.
Kirk supervises the News Operations Department, designs daily news graphics, is a sports contributor for the digital content department and assists other Raycom Media news stations in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi with their Chyron system.
He is an avid football fan who also travels to New Orleans during the Saints preseason to run the graphics system for WAFB's sister station WVUE.
Kirk is a New Orleans native who has made Baton Rouge his home since 1968.
He met his wife Cheryl, BREC's Director of Communications, while working at WBRZ-TV in 1993. They have two children, Christian and Jessica.
