Judge places hold on slain attorney's estranged husband

Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The estranged husband of murdered Baton Rouge attorney Chiquita Tate was booked into prison Saturday and now a judge is making sure he stays behind bars.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says a judge has placed a hold on Gregory Harris, which means he cannot bond out of prison.

Officers took Harris in for questioning about his murdered wife's case on Friday. That's when they discovered an outstanding domestic abuse warrant issued back in December of 2007.

Harris is now is prison for failure to appear in court for that incident involving his late wife. As far as Tate's murder case is concerned, police have made no arrests and named no suspects so far.

Tate was found dead inside her downtown Baton Rouge office on Third Street sometime before 6:00 a.m. on Friday. Investigators say the 34-year-old defense attorney was stabbed multiple times.
