Postal worker recognized for heroic actions

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge postal worker at the local Woodlawn station got a surprise Wednesday in the form of a warm thank you from the U.S. Postal Service, its employees, and EMS.

Cedron Webb was being recognized as a Good Samaritan who, while driving to work, stopped to do what he could for a man lying on the side of the road with serious injuries.

Cedron said at first he thought the man had been hit by a car. "I got out to assist him. He was shot. It was a domestic violence situation. I got out to assist him, tried to control the bleeding, called 911, and stayed on the scene until the paramedics came and took over," Webb says.

Webb was also given high praise by representatives of EMS, who said if others had the courage and wisdom to do what Cedron did, a lot of outcomes would be different in such situations. Despite Webb's attempts, the man he was trying to save died.
