BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said Tuesday morning that the threat of Hurricane Gustav possibly impacting Louisiana could force him to miss next week's Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.
Jindal is scheduled to speak at the convention during prime time television coverage next Wednesday night. "My first priority is the state of Louisiana and certainly if the storm continues to come our way, I'll be changing my travel plans," Jindal said.
The storm is on track to slice along the south coast of Cuba during the week before entering the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, forecasters say. Several computer models indicate Gustav will threaten the Louisiana coastline. Jindal said he is receiving hourly updates on the storm.
