Woman Shoots Two Men in Fight Over Dog, Christmas Decorations

Posted: Updated:

A Springfield woman is charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting two men after a dog damaged the Christmas decorations outside her mobile home, detectives said Monday.

Ethel Shannon McKinney, 28, of 23277 Blood River Road is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, said Jason Ard, spokesman for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.

Ard says McKinney and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Audie Ray Criswell, got into an argument with two men over the damaged decorations. The dog belongs to the two men. McKinney, who was inside her mobile home, allegedly fired several shots at the men, who were standing outside, the spokesman said.

One of the men was shot in the upper torso and arm. The other victim was shot in his arm. Neither had life threatening injuries, Ard said. The names of the victims were not released. The shootings happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Criswell was charged with disturbing the peace and two counts of aggravated assault, Ard said.
