Man Shot in Baker Dies, Charges Upgraded on Suspect

A man shot Thursday night in Baker has died and the man accused of the shooting is facing murder charges.

It happened on Sprucewood Court, which is northeast of the Baton Rouge Zoo.

Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps tells 9NEWS 19-year-old Diante Washington was shot in the head.

Baker police tell us they believe the shooting stemmed from a year-long fuel between two groups.

20-year-old Trevor Hamilton turned himself in just after 6:00 Friday morning and was arrested for the shooting.

He is now charged with one count of second degree murder, five counts of attempted second-degree murder and criminal damage to property.
