Birthplace: St. Joseph, Missouri

Arrived in Baton Rouge: I moved to Baton Rouge in 1983.

Education: Missouri Western State College/Elementary Education; emphasis in Early Childhood and Remedial Reading Certification.

Awards/Accomplishments: Can there be an award for "shopping?!" To this extent, was on national television (CBS This Morning) several Decembers ago while in New York Christmas shopping with a group of viewers from south Louisiana!

Family Info: Mom and Dad, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Missouri; brother and sister-in-law and twin nieces in Oklahoma. A new addition: an "All American" pup named Jonah--so named since he, like his Biblical predecessor, has a hard time listening to "the voice of authority!" Also, an American sponsor for a young boy, Luis, who lives near Santiago, Chile.

Community Involvement: LOVE reading to youngsters in area schools; speaking to and giving a testimony at various events for Christian women.

Hobbies: Shopping (of course), visiting flea markets (especially those in Iowa and Minnesota), needlework and would like to learn to play the violin.

Big Stories: Living through, and staying on the air, during Hurricane Andrew. However, during Hurricane Georges and Tropical Storm Allison, was either out of town or recovering from dental surgery--missed the whole thing--which Jay Grymes has NEVER forgotten!

Favorite Quote: "Shoot for the moon--even if you miss, you'll still land among the stars!"
