NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Year's gunfire in New Orleans injured a 56-year-old man. Police say the man was hit in the back by a falling bullet while standing on a Mississippi River levee.
Investigators found shell casings and learned that a group of four or five people were shooting guns in the direction of the levee.
Police received 19 calls about illegal gunfire from midnight to 6 am New Year's Day, an 82 percent drop from last year's 108 calls during the same period.
