JACKSON, TN (WAFB) - Officials report they have found the two men who escaped from custody in Baton Rouge almost a week ago, but they haven't been re-arrested just yet.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Ricky Wedgeworth and Darian Pierce were stopped along I-40 in Jackson, TN Tuesday night in a stolen rental vehicle.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the pair ran into the woods and a perimeter has been set up.

Troopers are also in  Vicksburg, MS to assist the Vicksburg Police Department with the investigation into the stolen rental vehicle.  On Monday, an Ohio woman filed a missing person report with the Vicksburg Police Department.  The Ohio man who rented the vehicle remains missing.

Wedgeworth and Pierce escaped from a work detail at the Louisiana State Police headquarters.

They stole a state-owned van, which was later found abandoned.

Troopers had earlier indicated they suspected the pair could be in the Memphis area, which is where Wedgeworth is from.

Both men are considered dangerous.

They were both serving 25-year sentences.

Wedgeworth was convicted of armed robbery in 2006 and Pierce was convicted of attempted second-degree murder in 2009.

"Locating and apprehending the two trustees continues to be a priority," said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent.  "Just as important are our efforts to locate the missing gentleman from Ohio.  We are certainly concerned about his well-being and we have committed all necessary resources to the search."
