BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The nation will take time Thursday to honor those men and women who have defended the U.S. by serving in the military and several ceremonies are planned for the Baton Rouge area.
Officials will place 50 flags in the median on Plank Road between Thomas and Groome roads. There will be veterans and other special guests. The ceremony starts at 8 a.m. outside of the old Walmart on Plank just north of Groome Road in Baker. Then at 11 a.m., you're invited to a ceremony with speeches and choirs singing. It's at the old State Capitol.

Donaldsonville - Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church at 8:20 a.m. and ceremony will follow in the gym at Ascension Catholic High
Gonzales - Program at Memorial Park at 11 a.m. / Parade at 4 p.m. beginning at the Gonzales Civic Center includes flyover
East Baton Rouge Parish
Baton Rouge - Celebration at African-American History Museum on South Blvd. at noon
Zachary - Flag-raising at the Bank of Zachary at 7:30 a.m. featuring ROTC cadets, band and choir from Zachary High
Iberville Parish
Brusly - Program at the town hall at noon
Plaquemine - Main Street Program on Railroad Avenue from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. with parade, food and music
West Baton Rouge Parish
Port Allen - Celebration at West Baton Rouge Parish Courthouse at 11 a.m.
West Feliciana Parish
St. Francisville - Annual program at West Feliciana Parish High at 9 a.m.
