BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge community held a candlelight vigil Sunday evening for the victims of a home break-in that left one woman dead Friday morning.
People who live in Beauregard Town got together around 7 p.m. for Alexandra Engler and her 9-year-old daughter, Ariana.
Neighbors said the main purpose for the vigil was to allow the community to grieve and begin the healing process.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Engler was killed when two men broke into her home around 5:30 a.m.
Her daughter remains in the hospital recovering from two surgeries after she was shot several times.
Police are still searching for the suspects responsible for Engler's murder.
Friends and family have set up a fund for Ariana Engler. Donations can be made at any Chase Bank.
